Piyi Dinaki

Going back to the 1970s, Papayannis village, well-known for the very sour water of its wells, has been quenching the thirst of the young and old local residents since the old days. In the past, it was preserved in clay pitchers, under the coolness of the scattered almond-leaved pear trees of the plain, accompanying and relieving the land workers from the summer heat. The sour water of the area has been known since ancient times; from the time of Aristotle, especially mentioned in his treatise entitled “Meteorology”, the narrations about Alexander the Great, till the Byzantine times when it became famous for its “therapeutic” properties, its high digestive value and the pleasure it offers. This mountainous village of Florina has 580 inhabitants and is located at an altitude of 670 meters, embraced by 4 lakes. All these features compose one of the coldest continental climates in Greece, with its subsoil being abundant in coal and carbon dioxide deposits. It’s exactly there where the spring privately-owned by Dinaki family is located, at a depth of 101 meters, which has been making traditional sodas and soft drinks for almost 40 years. This year, Piyi Dinaki presented a series of artisanal sodas for the first time, always based on the famous sour well water of their village, only with the addition of 1-2 natural ingredients, without any other intervention or addition. It’s actually a natural attachment to the Eklektikon portfolio with zero sugar, zero calories and zero alcohol.

Florina, part of the Region of Western Macedonia, is an enchanting place with varied landscapes. Mountains like Triklario and Voras coexist with natural lakes like Mikri and Megali Prespa. The climate is continental, with hot summers and snowy winters. Known for its natural beauty, the region is rich in biodiversity and offers alternative experiences. The six natural lakes, such as Mikri and Megali Prespa, as well as Petron and Vegoritida lakes, offer environments of rare beauty. The mountain peaks, and the variety of the natural landscape make Florina a destination for those who seek nature and peace.

It still has deep roots in mythology. Toponyms such as Heraklia, Kella, and Vevi reflect the ancient history of the area. Starting from the Neolithic period, Florina was already inhabited, with ancient settlements such as Armenochori and Meliti. During the Bronze and Iron Ages, habitation increased, creating a rich history and archaeological wealth. The period of the Royal House of Lygistis, with King Arrabios and Princess Eurydice, connects Lygistis with M. Alexander. This rich history, from mythology to the history of kings, makes Florina a destination that highlights its culture and heritage.
